Swimming Gala on 7th May, 2010 - Policy on Mobile Phones & Cameras

After lengthy discussions, for security reason, it has been decided that students are strongly recommended NOT to bring mobile phones to the Swimming Gala.

If there is necessity for any student to use the mobile phone after dismissal from Victoria Park Swimming Pool, the school will provide the service of collection and safe-keeping. In that case, mobile phones should be left in school between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on that day. Students should then proceed to the venue on their own by 8:30 a.m. for roll call. On completion of the Swimming Gala, students should collect their phones from the school before 2:00 p.m.

Parents’ feedback is that they do not feel comfortable with students bringing cameras to the Swimming Gala. Therefore, students are also requested not to bring cameras. Official photographers will be present to capture memorable and joyous moments.

Any contravention of the above school policy – i.e. any mobile phone and/or camera seen in the Victoria Park Swimming Pool area during the Swimming Gala – will be taken away and kept by the school for the usual period of time, plus a disciplinary consequence. A parent’s letter will be required before these will be returned.
